Whitney Hall
Kentucky Center Whitney Hall
501 W. Main St. Louisville, KY 40202
A 2,377-seat, multipurpose concert facility, Whitney Hall can accommodate everything from the most elaborate touring Broadway extravaganzas to the more modest requirements of a chamber music ensemble. Named for the eminent former conductor of the Louisville Orchestra, Robert Whitney, this theater has exemplary acoustics, comfortable seats, and generally uninterrupted sight lines to ensure that every patron enjoys their theatrical experience to the fullest. The Kentucky Center has an operating budget of nearly $13 million, with about 90 full-time employees. It is financed through a combination of earned income (facility rentals, ticket sales, and concession revenues), charitable giving and foundation support, local hotel room taxes, and state appropriations.
The Louisville Orchestra rents this space for rehearsals and concerts including the Classics Series, Pops Series, Coffee Matinees, and some LO special events.
