Compositions with family ties take the Whitney stage, beginning with pre-existing works from the second generation of our Creators Corps family. Gabriel Kahane, well known for blurring the lines between rock and classical, has written a beautifully personal piano concerto for his father, acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Kahane. The piece, called Heirloom, will be performed with the LO by the senior Kahane.

Longtime collaborator with the LO, composer Sebastian Chang, will debut a chilling new film score for the iconic horror flick, Nosferatu. Join us for a truly horrific and unique musical evening!

The concert begins with one of Richard Strauss’s uplifting tone poems based on the German trickster, Till Eulenspeigel. The John Corigliano’s Clarinet Concerto will be performed by our very own principal clarinetist, Andrea Levine. Followed by a spectacular performance of Debussy’s Ibéria. And our grand finale? Always a crowd-pleaser: the sensuous Bolero by Maurice Ravel.
