Pre-Concert Activities:
We’re excited to share some special pre-concert activities that align with the concert’s theme. We’ve partnered with George Yu, a distinguished violin maker from Louisville, to bring an insightful demonstration of the art of crafting violins. At George’s table, you’ll have the opportunity to explore touchable items and student violins, gaining a unique perspective on the violin-making process.
There will also be an area dedicated to making your own instrument! Creativity will be encouraged to develop something special that can be used during the concert and then taken home after the concert to continue the fun.
Additionally, another table will feature a bunch of clementine’s – clementine you ask? Well, George came up with a technique that can turn this fruit into the shape of the violin f-holes. The openings on both sides of the body of the violin that are shaped like a lowercase “f” are appropriately called f-holes, and these serve to transmit to the outside air the vibrations within the body caused by the body’s resonance, ringing out with a rich tone. This activity will certainly smell amazing and be fun, differentiated, and hands-on.
We can’t wait to see you there!
