Carmina Burana

Event Description

In partnership with the Appalachian Arts Alliance and ArtShine, we invite audience members to bring donations of art supplies to the Carmina Burana performance. Your contributions will support residents in North Carolina and Tennessee affected by the flooding from Hurricane Helene. Suggested items include crayons, markers, colored pencils, canvas/sketchbooks, paints, brushes, and rhythm instruments.

Teddy Abrams leads a massive array of instrumentalists and singers through the earth-shaking, life-affirming power of Orff’s Carmina Burana. Wherever the wheel of fate spins you next—love, lust, heartbreak, consolation, maybe a tavern to drown your sorrows—this feast of sound shakes you by the shoulders and implores you to live each day to the fullest while you can. A poignant masterpiece by Teddy’s dear friend and mentor Michael Tilson Thomas meditates on the experiences that unite us across different cultures and generations.
