Blaise Jessop Poth

Blaise Both, second violinist, has been a member of the Louisville Orchestra since 1982. An Owensboro, Kentucky native, Ms. Poth has had several private teachers including Sister Mary Cecelia Payne, Roland and Almita Vamos, James White, Peter McHugh, and Patrick Rafferty.  She earned her music education B.A. at the University of Louisville. She is a former director of the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy and is now running her own program in Louisville, “Suzuki Stars Music Academy.” www.suzukistarsmusicacademy.com

Ms. Poth’s expertise in the Suzuki method of violin instruction has been honed through a dedicated course of study over the years at institutes certified by the Suzuki Association of the Americas such as the Colorado Suzuki String Institute, Chicago Suzuki String Institute, Intermountain Suzuki String Institute, Northern Arizona University Suzuki Institute, Virginia Suzuki Institute and University of Louisville Suzuki Institute.

In her free time, Ms. Poth enjoys gardening, cooking, exercising, hiking, and running. Her favorite violinist is Miriam Fried and her favorite composer is W.A. Mozart. The most interesting aspect of being a musician, according to Ms. Poth, is “…having the ability to go to work and make music with many fine musicians.” Her advice for young musicians is that “You have to love music. Practice because it’s what you want to do.”
