The Louisville Orchestra has long had a strong reputation for innovation, creativity, and excellence. Job Summary:   Reporting to the Director of Artistic Operations, the Assistant Stage Manager works closely and effectively with the Stage Manager to provide critical support for the Artistic Operations Department.  The Assistant Stage Manager actively facilitates Production logistics in tandem with the Stage Manager, to ensure all needs are met for the Artistic Operation Department and Musicians.

The Ideal Candidate: The Assistant Stage Manager must be creative and energetic, and enjoy working for a fast-paced arts organization. They will need to exercise keen judgment in a variety of situations with strong communication and organizational skills. They will have the ability and flexibility to continually prioritize among competing demands. The Assistant Stage Manager will manage a wide variety of projects independently and professionally. The ability to work nights and weekends is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to drive a 24’ box truck (automatic)
  • Ability to lift and push equipment (road cases and instruments)
  • Assist in loading and unloading truck
  • Assist in orchestra set up / strike
  • Assist the musicians with all pre and post-concert needs
  • *Other duties as assigned by the Director of Artistic Operations and Stage Manager

Required Experience and Skillset:

  • 1-2 years of related experience preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Comfort and disposition to serve in a visible and critical role for the organization.
  • Critical and forward-looking thinker, who can devise and propose solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and with attention to detail.
  • Emotional intelligence and a sense of humor are a must.
  • Resourceful team player, with the ability to be independently effective.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends as necessary.
