Program Update: Intermission Added for Tomorrow’s Coffee Concert

Dear Coffee Concert Patron,

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Creators Fest tomorrow, Friday, May 9 at 11:00 AM in Whitney Hall. Teddy Abrams and the musicians of the Louisville Orchestra have been hard at work this week preparing a program of powerful new music—crafted with such depth and detail that they’ve determined a brief intermission is needed mid-concert to reset and refocus. Please plan for a 20-minute break following gift of tongues.

We apologize for any inconvenience this schedule change may cause and appreciate your understanding as we ensure the best possible performance experience for both our musicians and our audience.

You won’t want to miss what comes after. The second half features Split by Pulitzer Prize finalist Andrew Norman, performed by acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Kahane. Known for his dynamic and inventive compositional voice, Norman’s work is a thrill to experience live.

The concert concludes with a one-of-a-kind multimedia experience: Brittany J. Green’s The Lands of Hypnagogia. This imaginative piece follows a young dreamer named Cyan who becomes a dragon and journeys through a vivid dreamworld of mystical characters, deception, and adventure. The story and music were developed in partnership with students from the Waldorf School of Louisville’s Creator Club and brought to life with original animations by University of Louisville students. It’s a celebration of creativity, community, and collaboration—something truly unique to this performance.
