Classics: Walton + Britten

Saturday, April 1, 2017 @ 8:00 pm

English aristocrats, the Sitwells, all but adopted William Walton in the 1920s. Façades was a succes de scandal with Dame Edith Sitwell’s verse recited with accompaniment of Sir Walton’s music… a sort of “Mary Poppins rap.” British society rightly felt it was being mocked… but in such an entertaining way! Teddy conducts the LO in a selection of favorites from this remarkable work. We also welcome the return of violinist Augustin Hadelich to our British-themed concert. Since his visit last season, Hadelich received a Grammy Award and has thrilled audiences in the U.S., China, and Europe as he continues to tour all over the world.
