CANCELED :: “Mind-blowing”… “epic”… “spiritual ecstasy”… These are the words used that aptly describe this massive symphonic work by French composer Olivier Messiaen. This is piece from Teddy’s wish list and we close the season with this overflowing hymn to joy, time, movement, rhythm, love, life, and even death.

Point of History:  This work, Turangalila-symphonie, was set to premiere on 2 DEC 1949 on a Boston Symphony program. When conductor Serge Koussevitzky fell ill, the conducting duties fell to a young Leonard Bernstein. LEARN MORE.
