The Louisville Orchestra's visit to Harlan County in May represented not just an investment in the economy of our county, the City of Harlan, and the arts, but a promise of unity and genuine camaraderie with the people of Eastern Kentucky through the universal language of music. In Harmony certainly lived up to its name.

Over the past several years, the In Harmony Tour has demonstrated the powerful role the arts can play in connecting communities across Kentucky. By bringing live orchestral performances and educational programs directly to towns and cities throughout the Commonwealth, the Louisville Orchestra has shown how cultural investment can enrich lives, support education, and strengthen communities. The General Assembly is proud to support initiatives that expand access to the arts for Kentuckians across our state.
David Osborne, Kentucky House Speaker
Community Partnerships
Beyond concert halls, the In Harmony Tour partners with dozens of local organizations to deepen community impact. Events take place in senior living centers, flood-affected areas, libraries, parks, schools, and community support centers bringing music directly into spaces where people live, learn, and gather. Connecting with Kentucky's youth, the Orchestra has performed for students across the state and worked in educational centers for a variety of masterclasses and ensemble performances including elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as universities and at the Kentucky School for the Deaf. These partnerships ensure that the tour reaches Kentuckians who may not otherwise experience live orchestral music, creating meaningful connections and reinforcing the Orchestra’s role as a statewide cultural resource.
