Christmas Concerts and Gift Ideas

Music and the holidays go together like few other things in life. The deep traditions of sacred music, including Handel’s Messiah and the beautiful hymns and anthems that proclaim the glories of Christmas, are at the core of our celebrations. In addition, the popular music of the holidays has joyfully bonded together generations of families. Think about how we share childhood story-songs like “Rudolf, The Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty The Snowman.” Within families whose culture includes these musical traditions, these songs are shared from parents to children, and on to grandchildren.

The Louisville Orchestra celebrates those traditions with a series of concerts for families throughout the holidays. In addition, gift certificates of any amount are available through our ticket office and can be used for any purchase through May 2018. Call us, weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm, at 502.587.8681 and Carla or Shane will help you.

Four performances of Handel’s Messiah are offered at four different community locations and feature the LO and the exquisite voices of the  Louisville Chamber Choir under the direction of Kent Hatteberg. Each venue offers a different experience with the same music — it’s quite remarkable to hear this work in a church as compared to a concert hall. Find the location that’s right for you to enjoy this timeless masterpiece. General seating tickets are $35.
