80th Anniversary Annual Fund Drive

Dear Friends,

I hope you have enjoyed a concert this season as we celebrate the 80th Anniversary Season of the Louisville Orchestra. We opened the season with celebrated pianist Yuja Wang performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 4. On November 4, we performed the World Premiere of The Greatest: Muhammad Ali, which garnered international media attention. Whether you enjoy the Classics, Pops or the Neighborhood concerts, the performances have offered a vibrant mix of music. In addition, the Louisville Orchestra, in collaboration with the Decca Gold label, released our first album in nearly 30 years, All In.

The LO carries on the legacy of creativity by performing new works, massive epics, and intimate works of music. We continue to remain one of the pillars of Louisville’s exciting and vibrant arts community through multiple interdisciplinary partnerships, as well as expanded community engagement efforts throughout the region. It is our mission to continue to “Change lives throughout the entire Louisville community as only the Louisville Orchestra can – by promoting a culture of music through outstanding performances and education.”

The Louisville Orchestra has been at the heart of the arts community for 80 years and is the most active, full-time Orchestra in the Commonwealth. The LO has been instrumental in the development of the music of our time through extensive commissioning, performance and recording of new music. The Orchestra presents more than 100 performances annually. In addition to concerts, the Orchestra promotes and presents an extensive array of year-long education and community engagement activities, including on-site visits to all 92 Jefferson County Public Elementary Schools, serving nearly 25,000 students annually.

As the Orchestra achieves ever-greater levels of excellence, with both our audiences and our programs expanding, it is important to understand ticket sales account for only 32% of our operating budget. The balance must come from supporters like you. In honor of the LO’s 80th Anniversary, I ask that you consider making a contribution to the Annual Fund this year and join us in this partnership of making great music together for our community.

I thank you for your continued support and generosity and look forward to seeing you this season.
